"December 7, 1941 - a day that will live in infamy."

The Holland American Legion Band is proud to be able to participate in the 70th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor that drew American into WW II. After nearly two years of pre-planning and planning, we are only about two weeks away from flying from Detroit to Honolulu (about 4500 miles) for a week of activities and concerts to honor and remember the service men and women there that fateful day.

The band members have worked hard to prepare, and we are eager to represent West Michigan during that week of activities. On December 6th we'll visit and hold a brief service on the Arizona Memorial with the help of Legion Post 6 color guard and chaplain, and we'll perform at the nearby Battleship USS Missouri. Later that day we go to the Tripler Army Medical Center for a concert.

Wednesday, December 7th, we perform at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island - site of the Naval Air Station in 1941 - and the museum's 5th Anniversary!

Thursday, December 8th, we'll visit and perform at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (commonly called "Punchbowl" Cemetery) where service men and women not only from WW II, but also Korea & Vietnam are laid to rest.

Earlier in the week the band will travel to the North Shore for a concert at the beautiful Waialua Bandstand.

Stay tuned.......
